Breitling's new collection of timepieces is on the rise and ready to take off in tribute to the aviation world. The “Super AVI Collection” consists of five chronographs inspired by four legendary aircraft used by the Allied forces in World War II: the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, Vought F4U Corsair, P-51 Mustang and de Havilland Mosquito.
All of these watches have a 46mm case made of stainless steel with an overall thickness of 15.9mm, with the exception of the "P-51 Mustang" model, which comes twice in steel or 18k red gold options.
The finishing touches reveal a polished finish that contrasts with the brushed finish on the sides of the flat case. Despite this size, the watch wears less due to the chamfered lugs that curve down to the wrist.
Mounted on the case is a coin-edge ratcheting bidirectional bezel with a 12-hour scale engraved in steel, red gold, or a glossy black ceramic bezel insert for the "Super AVI Mosquito" model.
On the other hand, the entire collection is equipped with a sapphire exhibition case back, which allows to see the mechanical movement in action. Each watch features an airplane-inspired silhouette printed directly on the sapphire crystal.
